My 6yr old was recently taught about Magnets in school. She came home and excitedly told me how the teacher used a magnet and made another magnet wiggle. I thought it would be really cool to do some experiments at home so that she could understand the concept of how magnets work.
All you need are a couple of magnets for these experiments.
1. Disco Animal
I got the structure for this experiment in Wonderboxx. You can make the structure by using cardboard and Popsicle sticks. Make the cutout of your favorite animal and stick a magnet underneath. Stick 3 more magnets on the base cardboard. While sticking the 3 make sure that all of them repel the magnet stuck under the animal. So because of the like poles the magnets repel which make the animal wiggle. Check out the video too.
2. The Hammer
Using the same concept of like poles repelling and unlike poles attracting each other arrange the magnets as shown below. Check the video to see how it works.
3. Levitating pencil
This is another cool experiment. Using magnets you can make a pencil levitate.
